Different View - for Wind Quintet

Three movement wind quintet, Different View, written for resident wind quintet with BBC NOW.

 

Different View was inspired by the beautiful area surrounding the Menai Straits in Bangor, North Wales. There are so many spots from which you can view this area, each lending a new persective. This became the stimulus for the piece. This idea is conveyed in a musical way, by playing on the idea of a cyclical form. The theme in the first movement returns at the end of the final movement, but in a completely different context, resulting in a 'different view'...
